Cheyenne's new trick

Cheyenne is starting to imitate what we do. Here is her making sounds with her tounge. It's so funny.

1 Year Anniversary

Today, June 9 is William and my 1 year anniversary. A lot has happened this year, having Cheyenne being the best part. I hope this time next year we will be in a big new house with a yard and a swing for Cheyenne! William is still sick, although he did manage to go into work today. He's so behind. Maybe I'll go to Fresh Market, get a couple of filets and a bottle of wine and after Cheyenne goes to bed we can have a nice dinner. We'll also celebrate this weekend when we go to Lake Hickory with Tripp and Heather and leave Cheyenne with my parents for the day.

I think Cheyenne is finally getting better. She's doing a little better at night..although I think she is back to teething. I guess it will be like this from here on out...

Everyone say a little prayer for William that he gets better soon..(he's driving me nuts...) :)

When it rains, it pours

So I guess when it rains, it pours. I had just got done saying how good Cheyenne has been lately. We took her for her 4 month shots and she did okay. I had to take her back to the doctor today because she was up ALL NIGHT last night. She did not sleep. I couldn't seem to calm her down. I was hoping it was from the shots and it would all go back to normal today. She's been fussy today and not sleeping well so I took her to the doc. She has some kind of virus. They say it's not related to the shots. She's got a red/sore throat and little red bumps and it causes headaches and bodyaches in adults, so they assume it does in babies too. Apparently there's nothing she can take except tylenol. It'll just have to run its course. She's been crying all evening. I've finally got her down..but I'm sure she'll be up again tonite.

On top of Cheyenne being sick, William is sick. And we all know how men are when they are sick (sorry guys, you know it's true). We are assuming its allergies. He's got the runny nose, congestion, sinus pressure, head/body aches and a wicked cough that is keeping him up all night... So I'm taking care of a sick baby, and a sick husband and I think I've hit my breaking point! But when this is all over, hopefully I'll have my sweet baby back.

Most awesome little girl

Right now, Cheyenne is taking her morning nap. She usually naps for 2 hours at a time...from 10-12 and then 2-4. She goes down for her naps fairly easy usually, as long as I get her down before she gets overtired and cranky. I'm pretty good about reading her cues (rubbing eyes, etc.) She woke up about 30 minutes into her nap. We have a video monitor (couldn't live without this thing!) and I watched her. Usually she needs me to come back in and give her her paci and she'll usually drift back off to sleep. I waited and watched and she sucked on her fingers and the edge of her blankie and about 10 minutes later she drifted back off to sleep. She didn't need me. As I was sitting here watching her, I couldn't help but think that I am the luckiest person because I have her. Sure, she does normal baby stuff...gets cranky and has screaming fits, is going through teething (loads of fun) and sometimes just drives me nuts but then there are the times that I'm putting her to bed and I'm holding her in the rocking chair and she's laying with her head against my chest. There are those times that she reaches for my face and smiles. There are those times that she laughs and babbles at the faces I'm making at her. These times overshadow all the rough ones. She is the most wonderful gift I could have ever asked for. She is the most awesome and beautiful baby ( I know, I supposed to say that!) There is no better thing than being a mother and knowing what its like to carry a child, bring it into the world and care for her. My love to all the mommys and daddys. I just had to share.

Carrots!

At the doctor yesterday they gave me the 4 month old suggested diet. Cheyenne can start vegetables and fruit now, in addition to her cereal. I may stop the cereal altogether once I introduce the fruit to her, for breakfast. The cereal tends to "stop her up" in other words, constipate her. (TMI, I know :) ) Anyway, so we start with carrots, then move to squash, green beans, peas and sweet potatoes. She can have pears, applesauce and bannanas too. We'll do the carrots for a few days, then move to another one. This is a face only a mother could love!

Happy Birthday William!

Yesterday was William's birthday. Cheyenne and I got him a docking station to hold his phone, keys etc. This thing is a great invention! Now there's no cords everywhere from our cell phones and we always know where our keys are. Every year, William gets a turtle pie for his birthday. This year was no different. He absolutely loves those things.

In other news, Cheyenne went for her 4 month checkup yesterday. She also got more immunizatons. She slept for a good part of the day yesterday and has been sleepy this morning. She'll be fine though by tomorrow I'm sure. She weighs 17 lbs and is 25 1/4" long.

Pawley's Island/Litchfield Trip

This past weekend we made the trip to Pawley's Island/Litchfield to visit William's dad, Bill and his wife Camilla. It was a great weekend. Cheyenne did good on the trip down. We got to the hotel (which was on beach!) and laid her down for a nap..well we all took a nap. Then took showers and headed to The Hollifields house. We went to dinner at Mexican restaurant, La Playa. Cheyenne did great. Lately she had been hesitent about people holding her other than William and I, but over the last week she has gotten alot better and did great with Bill and Camilla. Saturday we let Cheyenne stay with them and William and I went to Brookgreen Gardens for a couple of hours. We picked her up and went back to the hotel to get her a good nap and then we put her in the pool for the very 1st time. It was a little cool at first but she did well! She seemed to like it. I can't wait until the water starts to get really warm over the next couple of weeks. After that we went back to The Hollifields for dinner. Cheyenne fell alseep on their bed and we stayed up talking until around 11:30. There was so much catching up to do. We really enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to going back for another visit when it gets a little cooler, maybe around October.
