It's been a rather eventful weekend at the Hollifield's. It all started Friday when we bought a hot tub! It should be here in 4-6 weeks. Our reasoning on this is with 2 small children, a vacation by ourselves is a LONG time off. This will be a daily vacation for us after the kids have gone to bed. And with carrying around Chey and Hailey my back is killing me. William also suffers from insomnia and alot of nights might get 2 hours total of sleep. I really think that getting in it will help him wind down and maybe sleep better at night. We are super excited and can hardly wait until it's full and heated and ready to get in!
Saturday Chey started getting a runny nose and by bedtime, a bit of a cough. She still had the runny nose today, but acted like she felt alot better. She spent the day with Grandma Katherine because we had to take Hailey to the Pediatric E.R. at Cone Hospital. More on that in a minute. I hope Cheyenne is better tomorrow because she has her fall/class pictures at school tomorrow! Cheyenne was exhausted when we picked her up from Katherine's. She was there from 10-4 and did not nap. Katherine tried, but Chey just wouldn't lay down. I really didn't expect her to. She doesn't spend alot of time at Katherine's and she doesn't have a crib or pack and play there that she's used to sleeping in. Katherine joked that Chey was walking around like a zombie and stumbling into things. She passed out in the car on the way home. We gave her dinner and Chey was in bed asleep at 6:30. Poor girl.
Now on to Hailey. Hailey was super tired yesterday. We had gotten on to a great routine and I knew pretty well how long she could stay up and still go down for a nap easily, etc. Well Hailey wanted to sleep all day. As soon as she was done nursing, 5 minutes later she was asleep. I thought maybe something was wrong because she also is still congested and has a runny nose. Hers hasn't gone away since she got it 4 weeks ago. Her temp was 99.7 which is okay so the nurse I talked to on the phone said just to keep an eye on her. Hailey slept awesome last night and this morning she had a temp of 102. This is high for a baby as young as Hailey. Okay, it was time to call the doc! They sent us to Cone Hospital because they wanted to do a blood workup to eliminate the dreaded swine flu, etc. If you all remember, we had to take Chey to the hospital when she was very young too, 4 days old. They drew blood and it was so hard to watch. William had to step out of the room. Hailey slept most of the time we were there, inbetween nursings. Her temp was normal there. I had given her tylenol and it had broke the fever. She did and still does have little red bumps on her face and chest. Her urine and blood all came back normal so we're thinking that it's a viral infection, which can't be treated, it just runs its course. They asked us to stay overnight to do observation but I felt I could keep an eye on her at home and we'd all be more comfortable. She seems a little better since we've been home, although before I put her to bed she had a temp of 100.9, so a slight fever. I am taking her to the doctor for a follow up visit tomorrow and to find out the results of the blood and urine cultures. I can't believe what all this little girl has been through in the 8 weeks of her life. An ongoing cold, double ear infection, yeast infection and now this. Hailey doesn't know what it's like not to be sick! Please say a prayer for her.

I saw on Facebook you were headed to the ER. Hope she gets to feeling better. Nothing worse than a sick baby!
