Jenny's Rehearsal Dinner

Groomsmen
Katie and Victoria got Coach perfume from Jenny!

Dad and Gail

Last night Jenny and Josh had their rehearsal dinner. It was planned to be at my parent's house outside but the weather didn't cooperate. It was held at the church and it still turned out great! There was BBQ and chicken, green beans and banana pudding. It was so good! I'm looking forward to the wedding this weekend at Oak Island and I'm know Jen and Josh are. Everyone pray for good weather!

Old Friends

Yesterday I went to Kasey's baby shower. We hadn't seen each other in so long! Kasey and I went to high school together. She's having a boy, Cooper Michael due on June 9th, which also happens to be my wedding anniversary. It was so good to see some old friends.

Cheyenne's Baptism

Cheyenne was baptized at church today. She did so well. Didn't cry at all when Pastor Rick put the water on her head. We are so proud of her! After church we went to the Country Club with the Starr family and tonite we'll go to mom and dad's for dinner. It's Jenny's 21st birthday! It's been a great Easter!

Saturday mornings

Last night mom and dad kept Cheyenne for a while and William and I went out to eat at PF Changs. It was good. We sat at the bar and watched the Carolina game and had some martini's. I rarely get to have a drink, nursing Cheyenne and all. It was nice to be able to! Anyway, we went and picked up Cheyenne and she was asleep and stayed asleep all the way home. I put her to bed and she slept until this 4 this morning. She had last ate at 8pm. She went 8 hrs! This is the longest stretch yet! We're so proud of her. She definetly has nighttime sleep straight, naps are another story. We're still working on that. After I got up and fed her this morning, I layed her down with William. There's something special about laying in bed, holding your baby. It's a feeling that can't we described. She was just smiling like crazy at him.

Father and daughter

If you know William well, you know that he's a huge cubs fan. So of course he had to get Cheyenne a cubs shirt. Aren't they cute? He can't wait until she gets old enough to take to a game, assuming we'll be able to get tickets. We've tried to get tickets the last 2 years, and they are always sold out! I guess we'll keep trying.

Aunt Katie is learning...

While we were visiting mom and dad yesterday, my sister Katie thought it would be a good time to learn how to change a diaper, having never done it before. Katie wants to be able to babysit and we would like for her to too, but she's got to get comfortable with Cheyenne and show us that she's okay. So she changed Cheyenne's diaper and her clothes since they were wet with spit up. She did a good job. We're so proud of her! Cheyenne didn't seem to mind being learned on either. She was pretty cooperative.
In other news, we met with our pastor yesterday and he would like to baptize Cheyenne on Easter, so she will be baptized this Sunday! We are really excited. William will also become a member of the church too. After the service we're going to the Country Club with the Starr family and William's mother for Easter lunch, and also to celebrate.

Breaking News!

Cheyenne slept 6 straight hours last night, which technically is "sleeping through the night." I am psyched! I'm really suprised too, considering the awful afternoon we had. Cheyenne missed her 1st afternoon nap which made her overtired so she didn't get a 2nd afternoon nap and it just snowballed from there. She was fussy all night. This had happened before and that night she was up every 1/2 hour to 1 1/2. It was awful. I just knew I was in for another night of that. I'm been trying to follow the routine from the book "The Baby Whisperer." It really works. I watch for Cheyenne's tired cues and put her down before she gets overtired. I don't always catch them but I'm getting better! So last night I finally found a blanket that wasn't too thick and big enough to swaddle her in. I thought I'd give that a shot. I had stopped swaddling her around 2-3 weeks because she was too big for the receiving blankets I had and she wiggled out. I just figured she didn't like it anymore. I fed her at 9, she was done at 9:30 and by 9:45 she was asleep. I layed her down and watched her for a few minutes. Usually within 10 minutes or so she will jolt herself awake. Since she was swaddled, the jerks weren't as bad and she stayed asleep. I layed down in the bed and listened for her to wake up. Next thing I know, she starts making cooing noises and I look at the clock and it's 4am! I looked over at her and she was rooting so I knew she was hungry. So I fed her and re-swaddled her and layed her back down. She drifted off to sleep all on her own. Just when I think that I'm losing my mind and don't know what to do, it all comes together. I really feel good now about what I've been doing with her, and the hard work of keeping her on a routine has finally paid off. Let's cross our fingers that this wasn't just a 1 night thing and she'll continue!

7 Weeks Old

Cheyenne is 7 weeks old today. I can hardly believe it has been that long since she was born. She has gotten so big. I guessing she weighs a little over a 11 lbs now. She'll go back to the doctor for her 2 month check up in a couple weeks. She is smiling alot now. At William and I when we talk to her, or when she sees us. It's amazing how much she has changed in the last few weeks. I can't wait until she starts talking and crawling, etc.

Cheyenne is learning to smile!

Cheyenne gave her first real smile to Daddy this past Sunday. I bought her a mobile to go on her crib and she loves to watch it. Here is some video of her...

In other news, Cheyenne will be baptized soon. We're trying to set a date with our pastor. It will probably be in the next few weeks.

5 Weeks

Cheyenne is 5 weeks old now. I took her to the doctor Friday and she weighed 10lbs 4 oz. She gained a little over 2 lbs since birth! She also is 2 inches longer at 21 3/4". She has really gone from being an infant to a baby, as my dad has been saying. She is finally on a routine now. Eats ever 3-4 hours and is awake for 1 1/2-2 1/2 hours at a time. She's sleeping good at night too. William and I have finally starting sleeping good. We actually had our first "date" Friday. Mom and dad babysat and we went to dinner at Bravo. We were exhausted by 8:30 though. But it was good to have some time to ourselves. The next month we'll really be working hard on keeping Cheyenne on a routine and then we're headed to Oak Island the first week of April for Jenny's wedding. We are really looking forward to going to the beach with her!
