Afternoon outside

Yesterday was the 1st decent day temperature wise we've had in a while. Cheyenne played outside as much as we could. I'm so sick of being stuck indoors! I'm ready for summer and already dreading next winter! We blew bubbles on the deck and Chey rode her riding toy in the driveway. I got it at one of the consignment sales the big churches in Greensboro have in the spring for $3.00! These sales are great. There's another big one next weekend downtown at First Presbyterian that I plan on going to. I'm hoping to find some good buys!

PB&J

Cheyenne had her very 1st PB & J yesterday! She loved it. At first she pulled the 2 pieces of bread apart and was licking the insides but I showed her how to eat it like a sandwhich and she got the hang of it. I think this has become one of her favorite lunches!

Playing in the Toy Box

We got this toy box for Cheyenne's new room but we haven't gotten it ready yet. It's still got the queen bed in it. So until we get it ready, the toy box has been in our room. Last night when I was folding laundry, Chey decided to crawl in the toy box to play. She thought it was the funniest thing. She stayed in there for the longest time. When the box gets full, she won't be able to do that...unless she pulls all the toys out first. Now what kind of toddler would do that?!?

Feed the Duck!

Whenever Cheyenne is in the bathtub she feeds her duck. We call him "quack quack." She knows exactly which one he is. I can say "Where's the quack quack?" and she picks him out of all her bath toys. She feeds him a bottle. This is the bottle that came with her cabbage patch newborn she got for Christmas. Somehow it ended up in the tub. Here's a quick video of her playing mommy duck!

Cheyenne Loves Her Loki!

Cheyenne has been giving lots of hugs to our cat Loki lately, and he's been letting her! Abby still runs away from her. She's even started "petting" instead of hitting and pulling his tail. Maybe one day he'll curl up with her like he does us!

Blue Eyes

I took this picture this week. Cheyenne was dying to play with the camera and I was able to snap this before she grabbed it. I can't decide if she's giving a mischevious look or she's just being sweet..... but those eyes sure are blue!

Outing with Gavin

Yesterday Cheyenne and I went to the park and walked with Heather and Gavin. He's almost a month old already! It's hard to believe. We walked almost an hour and stopped halfway so Cheyenne could slide and swing. I think she had a good time. I know I did. It's so much better

to have someone to walk with. It makes the time go by faster! I look forward to many more walks with them this summer!

Playgroup

Each week some of the other moms in our neighborhood and I get together and let the kids play together. There's usually 4 or 5 of us. Cheyenne is the youngest one. Most of them are 18 months-2 1/2 years. We had a great time at Meredith and Jolie's today. We made Valentine cards for the daddy's and got play outside since it was so nice!

Natural Science Center

We had more nice weather today so we went to the Natural Science Center with Kristi, David, and Maggie as well as Mark, Katy and Allie. We had a great time! Cheyenne loved the zoo. We saw tigers, a wolf, wallabies, birds, monkeys, goats, pigs and alpacas! This was Cheyenne's 1st time at the center but I forsee plenty of trips there over the years.

Bouncing in the discovery room. Feeding the goats.

Afternoon at the Park

It was so nice out today that we took advantage and took Cheyenne to the park. It was so crowded! I guess everyone had the same idea. We took some bread and fed the ducks. Then we walked over to the playground and got to slide and swing! I can't wait for more weather like this. It is so great to get outside!

They don't know everything...

I am here to complain. I need to vent about the medical profession. Okay, as a 1st time mother, there is a lot I don't know. You live and learn with your 1st child and you come to know what they need. The latest example: When Cheyenne started vomiting because of this stomach bug, I called the doctor's office and the nurse told me that as long as she didn't have a fever she wasn't contagious. Wrong! My entire family ended up getting it. I knew not to give her dairy while she had this bug so we stuck with pedialtye and watered down juice. She was fine by Tuesday, just tired from the lack of energy. Wednesday I gave her a normal breakfast of milk, a half a waffle and some fruit. The girl was starving, let me tell you! I took her to the doctor for a follow up after her ER visit and they said she was fine. She could have anything. I even asked about milk and they said it was fine if she wanted it. Not long after we got home she was vomiting. Okay, she's sick again all of a sudden? Maybe the milk? I'm really not sure. She was great the rest of the day and all day Thursday. I got home from school last night and Cheyenne wasn't in bed. We've been having sleeping issues since this sickness. I think she's gotten used to being held and rocked. Anyway, I took her upstairs and since William said she didn't eat much dinner I made a couple ounces of formula, gave it to her and she went right to sleep. At 10:30 she woke up screaming and lo and behold she had threw up again!!!!! We got her bathed, the sheets off and new sheets on. 15 minutes after I layed her down she did it again. Okay, by this point, I don't have anymore clean sheets for her crib, no crib mattress pad and all of her "blankies" that she sleeps with are covered as well. I find some old regular sheets and somehow manage to get them on her mattress. I rocked her for about 30 minutes and she finally went to sleep. After that, every hour on the hour she was up crying and I had to go rock, pat, whatever I could to get her back to sleep. Today she has been fine. Whiney and tired but that's to be expected when you're up all night! Eating normal...but no milk! So I do some research today and find that people, even babies can experience lactose intolerance after a stomach bug and sometimes it last for years!!! It said to wait 1 week before trying again. If it doesn't sit well, wait 2 weeks, etc. The moral of the story? Never completely trust doctors! They don't know everything. Oh and I went and bought another mattress pad and more crib sheets. I'm prepared for the next time, at least I hope.

Update

Cheyenne continued vomiting into Monday night. We were told to take her to the pediatric ER. They gave her something to settle her stomach and she was able to keep down a whole cup of pedialtye. (Which is great considering she was throwing up a 1/2 a teaspoon) She has kept everything down since. She slept until noon today (we got home at midnight) stayed up until 2 and slept until 4. We are now trying some crackers. I think she's getting better, we just got to get her strength back.

Well, Cheyenne has learned to share. Her sickness that is. I started feeling bad yesterday about noon and by 3:00 I couldn't keep anything down. Yes I went with her to the ER..and no it wasn't pretty. When we got home around midnight William started feeling bad and by 1am he was at it too. Great, just great! So Wiliam has been in bed all day. I am actually starting to feel a little better. I learned today that Cheyenne also shared with my mom and my sister Katie. I guess she was just in the giving mood! Anyway, keep our family in your thoughts. There's nothing worse than feeling bad and trying to take care of a sick child too.

Stomach bug?

So Cheyenne isn't feeling well....again. She woke up in the middle of the night last night in vomit and continued to throughout the night as well as today. She hasn't been able to keep anything down and we've just given her pedialtye and crackers. The nurse from her doctor's office told me that she's probably got a stomach bug. Chey has not a fever throughout all this. Her temperature is normal. She was feeling better this afternoon so we went to mom and dad's for a while to watch the superbowl. Well, a little while into it and she was at it again. I feel so bad for her. She's asleep now...with nothing in her stomach but about a teaspoon of pedialtye. Hopefully she'll have a better night and feel better in the morning. I'm supposed to have an ultrasound tomorrow morning but we'll have to see how Cheyenne's feeling before we try to head out. Say a little prayer for her.
