All Grown Up

The other day Cheyenne asked me to sleep in her bed, which is a toddler bed I bought back this winter when I was going to try to get her moved before Hailey arrived. He didn't work out then so it's just been in her room and I told Jenny she could have it for Emma since we would probably just wait until Chey was ready for a full size bed then move her. S,The other day she napped in it and then slept in it all night! Didn't even get out of the bed! So I thought maybe she's ready! The next day she wanted to sleep in her crib, same thing yesterday. So I got to thinkin... maybe I'll just turn her crib into the daybed. So today for her nap I put her Dora sheets on the mattress in her crib and took off the front. She slept for 2 hours! I really think having the Dora sheets on there helps. She gets so excited to sleep in her "Dora bed"! We'll see how tonight goes and if all is well then looks like Cheyenne is now sleeping in her big girl bed! Here's a couple I snapped right before she got up. Anf of course she has her blankie in her mouth and her baby beside her.

All Smiles

Hailey smiled for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago, about 7 weeks old. This is the 1st chance I've gotten to get a good picture. Isn't she adorable? I think she's watching Blue's Clues with Cheyenne.

Do They Look Alike?

Hailey 8 weeks

Cheyenne-7 weeks

Hailey is 2 Months old!

"Who me?" Tummy time!

So cute

Daddy and Hailey

Hailey is 2 months! She weighs 11lbs 3 oz and is wearing 3 month size clothes. She's really getting big, fast! Her longest stretch of sleep so far is 7 hours. She's eating just once most nights and most days naps pretty well, except today..it's 3:30 and she's on her first real nap. Those darn little eyes just kept popping open all morning! She was overtired because I couldn't get her down quick enough because Chey was eating breakfast, etc. Today's timing just didn't pan out. She's starting to look more and more like Cheyenne in my opinion.

Eventful Weekend

It's been a rather eventful weekend at the Hollifield's. It all started Friday when we bought a hot tub! It should be here in 4-6 weeks. Our reasoning on this is with 2 small children, a vacation by ourselves is a LONG time off. This will be a daily vacation for us after the kids have gone to bed. And with carrying around Chey and Hailey my back is killing me. William also suffers from insomnia and alot of nights might get 2 hours total of sleep. I really think that getting in it will help him wind down and maybe sleep better at night. We are super excited and can hardly wait until it's full and heated and ready to get in!

Saturday Chey started getting a runny nose and by bedtime, a bit of a cough. She still had the runny nose today, but acted like she felt alot better. She spent the day with Grandma Katherine because we had to take Hailey to the Pediatric E.R. at Cone Hospital. More on that in a minute. I hope Cheyenne is better tomorrow because she has her fall/class pictures at school tomorrow! Cheyenne was exhausted when we picked her up from Katherine's. She was there from 10-4 and did not nap. Katherine tried, but Chey just wouldn't lay down. I really didn't expect her to. She doesn't spend alot of time at Katherine's and she doesn't have a crib or pack and play there that she's used to sleeping in. Katherine joked that Chey was walking around like a zombie and stumbling into things. She passed out in the car on the way home. We gave her dinner and Chey was in bed asleep at 6:30. Poor girl.

Now on to Hailey. Hailey was super tired yesterday. We had gotten on to a great routine and I knew pretty well how long she could stay up and still go down for a nap easily, etc. Well Hailey wanted to sleep all day. As soon as she was done nursing, 5 minutes later she was asleep. I thought maybe something was wrong because she also is still congested and has a runny nose. Hers hasn't gone away since she got it 4 weeks ago. Her temp was 99.7 which is okay so the nurse I talked to on the phone said just to keep an eye on her. Hailey slept awesome last night and this morning she had a temp of 102. This is high for a baby as young as Hailey. Okay, it was time to call the doc! They sent us to Cone Hospital because they wanted to do a blood workup to eliminate the dreaded swine flu, etc. If you all remember, we had to take Chey to the hospital when she was very young too, 4 days old. They drew blood and it was so hard to watch. William had to step out of the room. Hailey slept most of the time we were there, inbetween nursings. Her temp was normal there. I had given her tylenol and it had broke the fever. She did and still does have little red bumps on her face and chest. Her urine and blood all came back normal so we're thinking that it's a viral infection, which can't be treated, it just runs its course. They asked us to stay overnight to do observation but I felt I could keep an eye on her at home and we'd all be more comfortable. She seems a little better since we've been home, although before I put her to bed she had a temp of 100.9, so a slight fever. I am taking her to the doctor for a follow up visit tomorrow and to find out the results of the blood and urine cultures. I can't believe what all this little girl has been through in the 8 weeks of her life. An ongoing cold, double ear infection, yeast infection and now this. Hailey doesn't know what it's like not to be sick! Please say a prayer for her.

In a bloggy mood

I have so much I should be doing right now. The house is always needing to be picked up or something cleaned, there's laundry, walking on the treadmill ( which I need to do desperatly!), etc. But I just finished my school work for the day and have about 15 minutes before Cheyenne usually wakes up and Hailey is actually asleep right now too. She's had quite a difficult morning. She took a good 1st nap, but woke up 45 minutes into her second one. She had spit up all in her crib and was crying. Hailey rarely cries when it comes time to go to sleep. Usually her crying is because she has to burp or pass gas. That seems to be the culprit 99% of the time. So what is life been like lately? Well, Cheyenne got a cold a couple of weeks ago that is still lingering, mainly just the runny nose the last few days. Hailey got the cold too, as well as William. Hailey also developed a double ear infection and after changing up antibiotics it is finally clearing up. She is still congested though.

Hailey has been doing wonderful at night for the most part. She has her last feed anytime between 7:45-8:15 and is usually asleep by 8:30. She will then sleep anywhere from 5-6 1/2 hours. She has another feed usually between 1:30-2:30 and will then sleep until around 7am. She does stir around 6 or so, but the paci usually holds her off until 7. For a 6 week old baby, I'm impressed! Cheyenne is going to bed easily for us these days. Just read her a couple of books or let her watch about 15 minutes of Dora and pop her into the crib. She lays right down with her baby and I don't hear from her until about 8am. Thank you Lord for that little bit of relief! My day is fairly busy. Hailey is napping every 1 1/2 or so and that takes alot of my time, putting her down. I sometimes feel like I'm neglecting Cheyenne and I know she is watching WAY too much t.v. these days, but I have to keep her somewhat quiet while I'm putting Hailey down.

Did I mention how smart Cheyenne is getting? Cheyenne's vocabulary has just boomed in the last couple of weeks. She knows "Josh, Jenny, Poppa, Katie, Nana, Emma (which she says "ma"), daddy, mommy. Her favorite new words are "no" and "mine." I think she learned "mine" at school. She is also learning colors. She knows blue and purple. Sometimes she gets green and red right..usually most everything is "bue."

I really need you guys to pray for me. Pray that I can find the time and energy to get back into shape. It's been pretty cool here today so I tried on my jeans. BIG MISTAKE! None of them fit. I refuse to buy news ones. I just have to get at least 20lbs off of me. But when? At 6 am before the girls are up? After they are in bed at 9pm? I just don't have the energy, especially when doing a middle of the night feeding and sometimes up for an hour to 2 after that because Hailey is battling gas. I am trying to get out and walk with them during the day, but Chey doesn't last long in the stroller and it's been too warm to leave Hailey in the carrier for too long. I guess the fact that I don't have time to sit and eat a meal helps either. Breakfast usually consist of a Smart Ones english muffin and from then on it's down hill. Lunch is non-existent. Then why aren't I losing weight? Because I snack. I think that I forget how much I'm eating because I'm snacking all day. A yogurt here, a Fiber bar there, a few pringles.... usually it's all healthy stuff, but it adds up! Anyway, I guess that's enough rambling.

Hailey 1 Month

Hailey is now 1 month old! We took her for her 1st checkup last Tuesday and she was 10 lbs and 21" long. She gained 3 lbs and 3/4". She's really growing fast. She is a pretty good baby. Pretty textbook. Doesn't cry all that much except when she maybe needs to be burped or is tired. She is taking about 4 naps, 3- 1 1/2 hrs each and a nap in the evening of anywhere from 30min to an hour. Cheyenne has gotten alot better since Hailey's arrival. She is still testing me but she's not nearly as clingly. Here's some pictures from Hailey's 1 month shoot. Enjoy!

Cheyenne's 1st day of Preschool!

Cheyenne had her first day of preschool today. She did great. I dropped her off at the door and her teachers said she didn't even know I was gone. She got a stamp on her hand which means she was good! She was all smiles when I picked her up.

I tried to get a picture of her this morning with her backpack but she wouldn't cooperate. She kept walking away. This is all I could get.

Here she is right outside her classroom all ready to go in!
