I am here to complain. I need to vent about the medical profession. Okay, as a 1st time mother, there is a lot I don't know. You live and learn with your 1st child and you come to know what they need. The latest example: When Cheyenne started vomiting because of this stomach bug, I called the doctor's office and the nurse told me that as long as she didn't have a fever she wasn't contagious. Wrong! My entire family ended up getting it. I knew not to give her dairy while she had this bug so we stuck with pedialtye and watered down juice. She was fine by Tuesday, just tired from the lack of energy. Wednesday I gave her a normal breakfast of milk, a half a waffle and some fruit. The girl was starving, let me tell you! I took her to the doctor for a follow up after her ER visit and they said she was fine. She could have anything. I even asked about milk and they said it was fine if she wanted it. Not long after we got home she was vomiting. Okay, she's sick again all of a sudden? Maybe the milk? I'm really not sure. She was great the rest of the day and all day Thursday. I got home from school last night and Cheyenne wasn't in bed. We've been having sleeping issues since this sickness. I think she's gotten used to being held and rocked. Anyway, I took her upstairs and since William said she didn't eat much dinner I made a couple ounces of formula, gave it to her and she went right to sleep. At 10:30 she woke up screaming and lo and behold she had threw up again!!!!! We got her bathed, the sheets off and new sheets on. 15 minutes after I layed her down she did it again. Okay, by this point, I don't have anymore clean sheets for her crib, no crib mattress pad and all of her "blankies" that she sleeps with are covered as well. I find some old regular sheets and somehow manage to get them on her mattress. I rocked her for about 30 minutes and she finally went to sleep. After that, every hour on the hour she was up crying and I had to go rock, pat, whatever I could to get her back to sleep. Today she has been fine. Whiney and tired but that's to be expected when you're up all night! Eating normal...but no milk! So I do some research today and find that people, even babies can experience lactose intolerance after a stomach bug and sometimes it last for years!!! It said to wait 1 week before trying again. If it doesn't sit well, wait 2 weeks, etc. The moral of the story? Never completely trust doctors! They don't know everything. Oh and I went and bought another mattress pad and more crib sheets. I'm prepared for the next time, at least I hope.
